EXHIBITION FINALE AND LIVE PERFORMANCES - FREE
2nd November 2013 - Leigh Woods 4pm -8pm
BBQ and bonfire
To mark the close of TrustNewArtBristol’s first exhibition, exhibiting artists present a live performance in Leigh Woods in a special one-off event.
JO LATHWOOD– Ore and Ingot
Ore and Ingot is an artist-led initiative in Bristol, co-founded by Jo Lathwood and David Snoo Wilson. The duo perform live bronze casting from a mobile foundry in unusual locations. This is a rare
opportunity for audiences to see traditional craft techniques, performed as contemporary art practice. For this event, the fifth and final diamond of the Bristol Diamond installation in Leigh woods
will be cast in a live bronze pour.
TOM BAILEY AND JEZ RILEY FRENCH
As part of the development of Nightwalk, an investigation into the natural history of Leigh Woods through sound, Tom Bailey and Jez riley French present a new selection of sounds inspired by field recordings. In this special event, these intriguing sounds can be heard on both smart phones and as live sound performances. Take a torch, wander through Leigh Wood and uncover the mysteries of the woodland.
This event may also be an opportunity to glimpse artist Justin Carter walking in the woods. He will be wearing what appears to be a camouflage outfit, but this is in fact a print pattern inspired by
Autumn 1833, a painting by William James Müller of the Bristol School. Tasty, local food and drink will be available to enjoy by the bonfire. For more information see www.trustnewartbristol.org
